Birmingham, AL, October 3, 2017: Edward E. Partridge, M.D., has been named chief medical officer of Birmingham, Alabama-based Guideway Care, according to an announcement by Craig Parker, the company’s president and CEO. Dr. Partridge, recognized as one of the country’s leading gynecologic-oncologists, is highly regarded for his work to improve access to quality health care for underserved populations and to reduce racial and ethnic health disparities.  He served for many years as director of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. “We are delighted to have one of the most accomplished oncologists in America join our team,” Parker said.  “Through his work in establishing the UAB Cancer Community Network, Dr. Partridge has played an integral role in creating new and better ways to help cancer patients and families navigate the complexities of cancer treatment.  His vision for a more patient-centered, supportive, cancer care experience has produced remarkable results and is the foundation upon which Guideway Care is built.” “I am excited about this opportunity, and the role that Guideway Care is playing in the future of cancer care,” said Dr. Partridge.  According to Dr. Partridge, while there are many forces at work bringing about change in the future of cancer care, none is predicted to have a bigger effect than upcoming changes in reimbursement models.  “It’s clear that insurance companies and care providers are going to adopt new forms of payment partnerships in an effort to achieve better results with fewer dollars,” said Dr. Partridge.   “These new payment models will create tremendous opportunities to redesign patient care to be more cost-effective, while producing better outcomes and a better patient experience.  Guideway Care will play a critical role in the transition from fee-for-service to value-based care delivery, by giving cancer care providers more tools to achieve the triple aim of quality care, controlled costs, and a better patient experience” he said.
